QFP: The Mormons

When I get absorbed into a book, or hand work, or whatever really, I tend to literally tune everything else out. Particularly when I am reading I tend to do this, because unless I do, my comprehension of the material is pathetic. I have a one track mind in the sense that I can only focus on one thing at a time.

With that in mind, I will chillin' in my room this evening, reading, which I have been doing as much as possible while I am not in school, when I heard frantic knocking at my door. I jerked out of my book and leapt (leaped?) to my door. I opened it to a very crazed looking Colleen.

"Go check your e-mail!" she ordered.

I looked at her in bemusement.

She proceeded to explain, in anxious huffs that the doorbell had rung. She and Abi had had the music up fairly loud, so there was little doubt that those standing at our threshold had been aware people were home. By peeking through the windows, they caught a visage of long black skirts, crisp white shirts, and a backpack.

Apparently knowing that such attire meant door to door evangelist for certain, Colleen and Abi hid away. They did not dare come and get me, because you had to pass the front door in order to do so. The only recourse of action they knew, since neither had a cell phone, was to e-mail me saying, "There are/were people at the front door! Save us!"

An e-mail to which I replied, belatedly replied with all contrite maturity, ":p"
