Day 149

Day one hundred forty-nine
March 31, 2013: Happy Easter.

Day 147 and 148

Day one hundred forty-seven
March 29, 2013: This year's Easter feels very un-Easter-y. It is going to be rainy and cold, but that's just like most Easters I've experienced back in Bend. This year though, not only did we not get to the Palm Sunday service, (not that it's much of a Palm Sunday at most Baptist churches, that's more of a Catholic thing) because we visited Megan and Shawn, but I won't be going to a Good Friday service either. Even if I wasn't working, this church's Good Friday service is a six hour long theological breakdown that lasts until midnight. Not your typical Good Friday material. And I won't partake in communion this Easter either. This church did it on Wednesday and I usually don't go to the Wednesday services.

Day one hundred forty-eight
March 30, 2013: Closing shift again.

Day 146

Day one hundred forty-six
March 28, 2013: Would it be presumptuous to hope that it stay warm this time?  The weather has felt more like the springs of Bend than what I have always been led to believe springs to be. In other words, mostly cold grey days with the occasional day of warmth and sunshine to fill you with empty hope, instead of two, three months of warm weather. Apparently this weather is odd for here. We brought it with us.

Day 145

Day one hundred forty-five
March 27, 2013: Good day today, but I have nothing to write about it.

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Day 144

Day one hundred forty-four
March 26, 2013: My computer is protesting Day Light savings time. For starters, it didn't automatically go ahead one hour like I thought it was supposed to do. So I went ahead and changed it myself. Now it won't stay changed. I've set it ahead five times now and each time it goes back.  I probably have it in the wrong time zone or something. I should look into that instead of just putting it an hour ahead.

Day 143

Day one hundred forty-three
March 25, 2013: I have done absolutely nothing today. Not one little productive thing. I spent all day doing nothing.

Day 142

Day one hundred forty-two
March 24, 2013: Visited Megan and Shawn today. While they were in Alabama house hunting we met at a half-way point and had breakfast at IHOP.

Saturday, March 23, 2013

Day 141

Day one hundred forty-one
March 23, 2013: It was crazy at work today. It was putting cloths away non-stop. I kid you not, today was busier than anything that happened during the Christmas season. Today made the Christmas season look dull. There may have not been as many people buying things, but there was a lot of trying on a lot of cloths and so that meant there was a lot of putting cloths away. There was also a lot of people putting their own cloths away, but in the wrong spots, which ultimately takes longer to fix than just putting their cloths away in the first place.

People are Watching

As it does to all people, it give me a false sense of recognition and connection when strangers look at my blog. Some of the times though, people get to my blog in a way I never would have expected it. Here are some phrases that people have put into a search engine to find my blog.

"a few i know i woudln't"
I am not at all sure how this would lead to my blog, or what post this would have someone looking at.

strangest paragraph
Makes sense, I say paragraph a lot, but the post it leads you to doesn't say the word strangest.

I remember writing about that here and here.

Day 140

Day one hundred forty
March 22, 2013: Used my debit card for the first time today. Whoop. For a moment I freaked out thinking I had forgotten my pin but then the number I guessed worked.

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Day 139

Day one hundred thirty-nine
March 21, 2013: Decorated Easter eggs today. I employed the famous tape technique (which, [as far as I know] I invented.) I also enhanced Colleen's smear technique by applying it to the entire egg.

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Day 138

Day one hundred thirty-eight
March 20, 2013: I finished Bleak House today. It actually wasn't that bleak, even for a Dickens book. Now I'm going to start Good Omens. Back in Bend the library would call you if you had a hold in. It was an automated voice, if they even bothered calling you. Sometimes they didn't, and if they did they wouldn't say who it was for, or what book it was, the message would only say someone at our number had a hold in. Here at this library an actual person calls you, and calls you personally, not just your number, to tell you that you have a hold in, which book it is, and how much longer they will hold it for you. In Bend you didn't have to talk on the phone with a person, which in a way is better, but then again the voice of a real person is much less annoying. Oh, and first day of spring everybody! I'm celebrating by wearing a sweater.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Day 137

Day one hundred thirty-seven
March 19, 2013: Hot cold hot cold hot cold. It's almost as bad as it was back in Bend. Yesterday was so hot that while I was running the sweat was literally pooling in my shoes, but today I was freezing in the morning. It warmed up some in the afternoon, but who knows what tomorrow will look like.

Monday, March 18, 2013

Day 136

Day one hundred thirty-six
March 18, 2013: The music was busted at JCPenny today so it was awkwardly silent all day at work. It would not have been so bad, but it was slow, particularly, slow today.

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Day 135

Day one hundred thirty-five
March 17, 2013: Happy St. Patrick day.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Day 134

Day one hundred thirty-four
March 16, 2013: The weather was very nice today. I probably should have spent more of it outside.

Casey the Joint

Here's a (very) short story. I'm not even sure if it's long enough to be considered a short story.

Casey looked up from the text book, tapping her pen against the desk top. The small print from the book still drifted over her eyes. She couldn't concentrate, and she wasn't sure why. That morning she hadn't felt any different than usual. Just a little too tiered, as always.

Casey sighed, shoving the note and text books back into her messenger bag. With a yawn she stood back up, pushing the chair back into place with her foot. She drifted through the library, holding a cell phone at her hips and looking down at it. She drifted through the library like any other ghost. She might as well have not been there. But that is the way libraries are supposed to be.

The air was crisp when Casey walked through the pneumatic doors. She pulled her university sweat shirt around her more tightly as she walked across the campus. She paused while in front of a class room window. The class appeared to be in session, even though there were only a few students. Not more than four.

Or maybe seven, Casey thought, no three.

Casey shook her head and glanced back at the teacher. She stared at him for the longest time, wondering why he seemed off. With a shock she realized the teacher's hair color had changed.

Casey ducked behind a tree when one of the students looked at her. She continued to study the class room from behind the tree. Every time her eyes flickered over the scene it changed in a slight and nearly indiscernible way. Yet over the course of several glances, it was obviously the interior of the class room had changed.

Before long, the class room appeared to be let out. Casey shuffled out from behind her tree and entered the building the classroom was in. She reached the door she was fairly certain opened up to the class room. She peered in and saw the teacher tidying up.

"Need something?" the teacher asked, his dark brown eyes jabbing at Casey.

Casey side stepped in front of the door way. "Um yes, well, I was wondering what you were teaching today."

"What I was teaching?" the teacher said, coly walking up to Casey. "Why would you want to know that?"

Casey unknowingly wrung her hands. "It looked interesting."

The teacher's smile uncurled over his face. The eyes glittered a mischievous hazel. "Phase transition."

The teacher slammed the door in Casey's face.

Day 133

Day one hundred thirty-three
March 15, 2013: I remember what it is that I wanted to write about. On Tuesday we were talking about name tags for some reason, and since I still didn't have one I was saying, "I've been around since November and I still don't have a name." (Yes I said it like the leek from Veggie tales.) The manager then looks at me seriously and says, "We'll get you one." The next time I worked which was yesterday, he personally came up to me as soon as I got there, and he handed it to me. For months I have been asking supervisors when I would get my name tag and all I had to do was mope in front of the manager to get it. It was also very nice today.

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Day 132

Day one hundred thirty-two
March 14, 2013: I knew what I was going to write about today. I thought about it while at work and even planed the entry. Now I don't have even the slightest idea what I it was. Not even the foggiest.

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Day 131

Day one hundred thirty-one
March 13, 2013: I'm sure if I thought about it I would think of something to write, in fact there are some things I know I could write about, but for right now I'm going to be lazy and not write about them. SO THERE!

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Day 130

Day one hundred thirty
March 12, 2013: It is kind of strange, but the hour shift from Daylights saving hasn't struck me until tonight. It was 6 o' clock and it was still bright outside. I know it's been a couple of days since we turned are clocks forward but I just hadn't really noticed it until now.

Monday, March 11, 2013

Day 129

Day one hundred twenty-nine
March 11, 2013: Today I entertained the thought of vlog-erizing this whole a thousand days thing. I spent about an hour fiddling with my camera and came to the conclusion I will not be putting up these entries in video format, at least not any time soon.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Day 128

Day one hundred twenty-eight
March 10, 2013: Almost forgot to do this today.

Saturday, March 9, 2013

Day 127

Day one hundred twenty-seven
March 9, 2013: I was doing tons of things today, and then I came up with a story idea, and I've spent the rest of the day expanding it until it became something awesome. The sad part is that I probably don't have the time to do with it what I want. Four hours straight basically, I have been working through this idea in my head. Four hours!

Blogging and Not Daily Daily Exercises

Greetings! You know, I have been meaning to blog more, and every Saturday, (my designated blogging day) whatever I have decided to blog about, I realize would make a good A Thousand Days entry. My panties,  Jacob's room, work. That's one of the reasons I haven't been blogging more in recent times.

For a while I tried the whole book review thing, but I really didn't like doing that.

I mean to make this blog more like I used to, just a place to share the poems and short stories I've written. The past couple (alright a few more than a couple) weeks I haven't really been writing...I've been writing my novel, but that's about all I have been writing. I've fallen down on my daily writing exercises.

In light of this, I have taken a vow I will probably break before the end of the month. I will blog at least once a week, and I will do a daily exercises at least three times a week. (Though I am not entirely sure if it is even legal to call it a "daily exercise" if I don't do it every day.) I maybe even have plans to write an on going series on this blog, depending if I can think of a good plot and the time to do it.

I hope to make this blog a place where I share my writing and talk about writing in general. Maybe write opinion about certain writing themed subjects and share other blogs and articles about writing. I may have plans to become an accountant, but writing really is my passion, and I would like to make this blog reflect that.

So yes, blogging once a week and doing a (not really) daily exercises three times a week. Hold me accountable people.

Day 126

Day one hundred twenty-six
March 8, 2013: I got another box of chocolates today. So yes, I plan to start insulin treatment next week. Oh, so bitter sweet! I have come to the end of Battlestar Galactica. For so many years I have been watching the show on Netflix, it feels strange to know that soon it will all be over. On average I've only watched about one episode per week ever since I started, (on average, some weeks I watched three, yet there have been some months I haven't watched it at all,) but I've saved the last three episodes to watch today. I only have one more episode to go.

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Day 125

Day one hundred twenty-five
March 7, 2013: I don't feel like writing a long entry today.

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

Day 124

Day one hundred twenty-four
March 6, 2013: I missed a call today. Turns out it was from work. They probably wanted me to work an extra shift. O well, I should probably keep my cell with me at all times now that I'm employed.

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Day 123

Day one hundred twenty-three
March 5, 2013: Guess who got two credit apps in one day? That's right, me. So I got a box of chocolates. One of the reasons the apps have been driving me crazy is that I ask nearly every person whom I check out. The only people I don't ask are the ones who are talking on the phone. Yet, despite that, I hardly ever get an app. There are some people who get at least a couple a day. But I'm lucky if I get one a week. The first app was just luck. The person came up and asked to apply. I didn't think I was going to get the second one. There I was, five minutes until my shift ended, and this person with a whole lot of stuff asks to be checked out. Like I do with every person I asked if they wanted to apply. I figured it was too much to hope for when, low and behold, the woman said yes.

Monday, March 4, 2013

Day 122

Day one hundred twenty-two
March 4, 2013: Looks like all of the plumbing problems in Jacob's room are finally coming to a close. His room is being painted now and that is one of the last steps before he can move back into it. Pretty much we need to do touch up and let the paint dry. It will be nice not to have Jacob's stuff all over the house again. It seems like this thing has been going on forever. It will be weird having an empty parlor again.

Sunday, March 3, 2013

Day 121

Day one hundred twenty-one
March 3, 2013: The titles are beginning to be really long. I can't wait until I get to seven hundreds.

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Day 120

Day one hundred twenty
March 2, 2013: You know, I think we brought Bend's funky weather with us. It was seventy degrees in December, but now it's snowing. The fact that it is snowing at all is weird, but it's March, and need I say again it was seventy in December? Mum, Katy, and I went out to lunch at the Corner Café and then did a little shopping. Lunch was very tasty and I tried on some cloths I liked. The latter is kind of good and bad, because the cloths looked really good on me, but I do not have any money to spend on cloths right now. I'm trying to save all of it for college.

Day 119

Day one hundred nineteen
March 1, 2013: Happy Platypus Day. I didn't have a fedora last year but now I do.
